ROSATOM CEO S. Kirienko held talks with Turkish Minister of Energy T. Yildyz

S. Kirienko said: “More than US$ 1.5 Billion have been already invested in implementation of the Akkuyu NPP project and this is just the beginning. We proceed from the fact that local companies will get orders for construction and installation works worth more than US$ 5 Billion. During the plant construction period, tax payments will amount to billions of dollars as well. The project develops successfully; our nearest move is to submit the refined environmental impact assessment (EIA) to the Ministry of Environment [and Urban Planning] of Turkey, which will happen before March 27.”

T. Yildyz said: “We have mutual trust. Normally, EIA is 500-page thick. We have somewhat more, over 3,500 pages, but it has to be understood that we are building the first NPP in Turkey; therefore, the wish of our experts to ask questions is understandable. On the whole, we do our best to commission the first reactor in 2019.”

At the meeting with T. Yildyz, the head of ROSATOM also introduced a candidate for the directorship in the project company NPP Akkuyu JSC, Fuad Akhundov, who will take the office commencing April 1, 2014. Sergey Kirienko said the former head of the company, Alexander Superfin, moves to another job. As a vice president of Rusatom Overseas, he will be responsible for ROSATOM’s business development in the North American market.
